CERAMIC BOBBLEHEADS 8TH GRADE SEMESTER ART
I challenged my 8th grade semester art students to create a functional bobblehead utilizing hand building techniques they had practiced in class (coil, pinch, solid to hollow, and slab). Since this was such a novel and relatable art project, student engagement was high and I was so impressed with the results! It demonstrated to students that mastering a few simple techniques can result in a relatively complex work of art.

PRINTMAKING ALBUM COVER 8TH GRADE SEMESTER ART
I have always found giving students autonomy and creating projects and lessons that are relatable and personal to my students make for the best learning experiences. Printmaking can be challenging, especially when attempting to explain the reduction print process. By creating highly structured demonstrations, resources, and classroom procedures and relating it to my students by asking them to create an album cover for a song that is personally significant to them, it was not an issue allowing them the autonomy to complete the project.

SPIRIT PODS HIGH SCHOOL INTRO TO 3D
Students were challenged to give form to their spirits utilizing the expressive potential of line, form, and space. Students created a pod using wire and/or reed that utilizes line to visually communicate their spirit/essence/character. Students produced a wide variety of responses, each sophisticated and intentionally designed.

CLASS YEARBOOK AP DRAWING/2D
After AP Drawing and 2D submit their portfolios for evaluation, they have about two week of down time before the end of school. Ms. Ontiveros asked me to come up with a final project that could take up these extra 2 weeks and serve as a way to sum up the year long journey they had taken together. I came up with a class yearbook project. Each student was assigned a peer and had to create a portrait of that peer and combine both their own and their peer's concentration themes into the piece.
