Global Gateway for Teachers

Global Gateway for Teachers is a cultural immersion program designed for future educators seeking to develop the flexibility and perspective it takes to work with students from different cultures and backgrounds than their own. During the 2017-18 school year, I have engaged in a year long preparatory phase that included writing several research papers, service learning experiences, and attending monthly seminars.

I am currently placed in Byron Bay of New South Wales, Australia teaching years 7-9 Visual Arts. It has been a challenge adapting to the school and student body's culture and attitudes, but has been very rewarding. At the culmination of my experience abroad, I will have earned 9 graduate credits. I look forward to the opportunity to become better prepared to teach in increasingly globalized schools and communities.
